À Bordeaux, la maison Origines s’impose comme une référence pour celles et ceux qui recherchent des cafés et thés porteurs de sens. Fondée il y a 12 ans par Natalia Kupianskaya et Loïc Marion, l’entreprise est née d’une rencontre et d’une conviction: proposer des produits respectueux de la nature, traçables jusqu’au producteur, et torréfiés avec précision pour exprimer tout leur potentiel.

L’histoire commence simplement, avec la vente de thés et de cafés sélectionnés. Mais très vite, le couple constate une limite : le manque de traçabilité des cafés et une approche aromatique insuffisante dans la torréfaction externalisée. En quête de transparence et de qualité, ils décident de se lancer eux-mêmes dans la torréfaction. Un petit torréfacteur boutique de 2 kg leur permet de franchir le pas – et l’enthousiasme immédiat de leur clientèle confirme qu’ils avaient vu juste.

Quelques années plus tard…

L’aventure prend une nouvelle dimension avec l’installation d’un torréfacteur de plus grande capacité. En 2019, après un appel d’offres rigoureux, IMF s’impose comme le partenaire idéal.

Speaking of history and tradition, how did your experience with IMF begin?

Alessandro Garbin, CEO of the company: “Our experience with IMF began in 2010 when we first had the opportunity to see one of these coffee roasting machines in operation. From the outset, we understood the innovative technology behind it and appreciated the final quality of the coffee obtained from the roasting process. We sensed the great potential it would have in the market, and immediately the idea of acquiring this small artisanal company arose.”

Can you tell us about this particular technology, and why we can talk about innovation and sustainability in the coffee world?

“The innovative roasting technology of IMF is equipped with a unique patented convection system that allows the recirculation of clean hot air through a dual-function combustion chamber, capable of generating the energy needed for the roasting process and reducing emissions into the atmosphere, ensuring significant energy savings as well as a substantial reduction in production costs.

Thanks to our knowledge of the raw material and collaboration and dialogue with the two founders. Some technical improvements have been made which have yielded great results. With the addition of these optimizations, we have introduced to the market, first in Italy and subsequently worldwide, a truly high-performance roasting machine.”

Can you describe how the past year has been for IMF?

“The past year has represented another important step of growth and evolution for IMF. We have grown in terms of both turnover and expansion of product portfolio, reaching around 16 million. Further growth is expected for the current year as we have promptly responded to all the expectations and challenges posed by the market.

Additionally, new production spaces have been acquired, adapting them for safety and comfort within the company, with significant investments also in human resources, always striving to maintain the well-being of employees; all this allows us to maintain a good level of customer service, the company’s main mission, and to tackle all markets to the best of our abilities.”

Parlando di tradizione e storia di innovazione, com’è iniziata la sua esperienza con IMF?

Alessandro Garbin, CEO: La nostra esperienza con IMF è iniziata nel 2010 quando per la prima volta abbiamo avuto occasione di vedere in lavorazione una di queste macchine per la torrefazione del caffè. Fin da subito ne abbiamo capito la tecnologia innovativa e abbiamo apprezzato la qualità finale del caffè ottenuto risultato dalla tostatura. Ne abbiamo intuito le grandi potenzialità che avrebbe avuto sul mercato ed è scattata quindi immediatamente l’idea di acquistare questa piccola azienda artigianale.

Ci può raccontare questa particolare tecnologia, perché possiamo parlare di innovazione e sostenibilità nel mondo del caffè?

Alessandro Garbin: La tecnologia di tostatura innovativa IMF è dotata di un sistema a convezione unico nel suo genere, brevettato, che permette il ricircolo di aria calda pulita attraverso una camera di combustione a doppia funzione, in grado di generare l’energia necessaria al processo di torrefazione ed alla riduzione delle emissioni in atmosfera, assicurando un notevole risparmio energetico oltre ad una consistente riduzione dei costi di produzione. Grazie alla nostra conoscenza della materia prima ed alla collaborazione, dialogo con i due fondatori, sono state effettuate alcune migliorie tecniche che hanno dato grandi risultati. Con l’apporto di queste ottimizzazioni si è proposto al mercato prima in Italia e successivamente in tutto il mondo, una macchina torrefattrice davvero performante.

Può dire come è stato l’ultimo anno per IMF?

Alessandro Garbin: L’ultimo anno ha rappresentato per IMF un altro importante step di crescita ed evoluzione. Siamo cresciuti in termini sia di fatturato che di ampiamento portafoglio prodotti, attestandoci circa ai 16 milioni. Una ulteriore crescita è prevista per l’anno in corso poiché abbiamo risposto prontamente a tutte le aspettative ed alle sfide che il mercato ha posto. Inoltre sono stati acquistati nuovi spazi produttivi, adeguandoli ai fini della sicurezza ed al comfort del lavoro all’interno dell’azienda, con grandi investimenti anche in risorse umane cercando sempre di mantenere il benessere dei collaboratori; tutto ciò consente di mantenere un buon livello di servizio al cliente, missione principale dell’azienda, e di affrontare tutti i mercati al meglio delle nostre possibilità.
